Hosting and Domain Registration
After lots of research we decided to host our blog with bluehost. Here is what we love about bluehost: free domain name, cheap and reliable hosting, excellent customer service, and extremely user friendly service! After signing up for bluehost it took less than ten minutes to plug in WordPress and get started! If you have not registered for hosting check out bluehost you will not be disappointed.
In short- it is easy to use and if you want to change the theme of your site you do not have to retype your posts.
We use the Thesis Theme for WordPress. The Thesis theme comes with a Classic Responsive skin, you can make your own skin, or you can find a designer to purchase a skin from. We used the Classic Responsive Skin and then using Thesis tools we were able to customize the theme to our specifications. Thesis makes editing a theme very user friendly and whenever we were confused we found that we could search WordPress Support to find the answer. We also found that Google searching enabled us to find almost every answer! Check out Thesis here!
We have the Canon EOS 70D 20.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus. It is a magnificent camera! Neither os us have that much experience with cameras and we instantly fell in love with this camera and were able to take beautiful pictures. There are many advantages to this camera, such as the amount of mega pixels and the clarity of the auto focus, however we were convinced to buy this camera because it takes unbelievably clear and beautiful videos of food! This camera is mind blowing, you will not be disapointed. Read the reviews and check out all the features here!
Possibly more important than the camera is the lens. After demoing and researching many lenses, we decided to purchase the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens. This lens enables us to take very close up pictures of our food. We can even zoom into minuscule detail to highlight an aspect of our dish. Please look through our posts to get a better idea of the power of the lens. The lens and the camera price adds up but it is worth the investment. You will not be disappointed in the results!
